Frequently Asked Questions About SOS Hours
How do I get my hours approved faster?
Use an email address for your verification contact information. Sponsors are very busy, and don't have time to call you in order to verify your hours. Email is the best way to assure that your hours will be approved. Use phone numbers only when absolutely necessary!
When are my hours due?
SOS hours are always due at the end of each grading period, which in simpler terms means by the end of each six weeks.
None of my verified hours have been approved?
Class sponsors approve verified hours regularly. If your verified hours have not been approved please check your profile to make sure you are in the correct groups. You should be in two groups, your class year and the SOS group for your class year (ie Class of 2017 & SOS Class of 2017). If you are not a part of the SOS group your class sponsor cannot see your pending hours!
What to do if your hours are denied?
· If your hours are denied ----
1st - check the comments section of the entry for messages from your Class Sponsor
o If your entry was incomplete or contained errors correct them and resubmit
o If your hours were denied because they did not meet the guidelines but you feel you have extenuating circumstances, submit an appeal form to the faculty appeal committee
o Appeal forms can be found at the bottom of this page and should be submitted to Mrs. Hampshire for review
What are grounds for dismissal?
Signing up for volunteer opportunities is a commitment, and community organizations depend on your help. If you cannot be there please cancel in a timely manner. REMEMBER - 3 OPPORTUNITY NO SHOWS WILL RESULT IN EXPLUSION FROM THE SOS GROUP!
